Merry Christmas y’all!<\/p>\n

I hope you have been enjoying the market correction along with the peace and tranquility with your families. Unsurprisingly,\u00a0in crypto, it’s been a bumpy ride again so let’s sum up what happened in the past 10 days!<\/p>\n

Bitcoin:<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

– Bitcoin futures\u00a0went live on CME<\/a>.
\n– The old man with white beard\u00a0came a bit sooner this year and brought us bitcoins in discount, as well as\u00a0lower transaction fees<\/a>\u00a0– thanks Santa!
\n– In the meanwhile, Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE)\u00a0applied for six Bitcoin-based ETFs<\/a>!
\n– Things are happening also elsewhere – France is calling for\u00a0Bitcoin regulation at G20<\/a>!
\n– ZeroLink is testing a new\u00a0Bitcoin mixer<\/a>\u00a0on the protocol level.
\n– The great Andreas gave some more talks, among others also this short explanation of\u00a0Atomic Swaps.<\/a>
\n– Bitcoin dev Jimmy Song had a nice chat with Tone Vays about\u00a0scaling, Bcash and Hashgraph<\/a>\u00a0(!). And then he wrote an article on exploring Bitcoin’s\u00a0anti-fragile properties<\/a>.
\n–\u00a0Chain<\/a>, a blockchain tech company, released an\u00a0open-source compiler<\/a>\u00a0for writing Bitcoin smart contracts.
\n– The Bitcoin folks are getting excited about the Lightning network – here is a\u00a0short and simple explanation<\/a>\u00a0of the basics.
\n– And here is the\u00a0critique of it<\/a>, contemplating its weaknesses.
\n– And, since I know you are getting bored watching all those Xmas movies all over again — here is some food for your mind — a\u00a0bunch of BTC videos from Princeton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ethereum:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

– Dai Stable coin\u00a0has launched<\/a>\u00a0on the Ethereum network!
\n– The EtherDelta’s domain\u00a0was hijacked<\/a>\u00a0which caused some mess.
\n– While breeding CryptoKitties is still fun, the crypto world is getting addicted to the new game –\u00a0Etheremon<\/a>!
\n– Vitalik wrote a quick article on\u00a0Gas analysis<\/a>.
\n– While his friend Vlad Zamfir bursted a whole\u00a0thread on on fault tolerant consensus protocols<\/a>\u00a0on Twitter.
\n– Guys at Gnosis decided to\u00a0implement the Duch auction<\/a>\u00a0principle in to the concept of decentralized exchange.
\n– While folks at Grid+ came up with a lightweight solutions for Ethereum scaling via\u00a0trusted relay networks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Altcoins:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

– Morgan Stanley estimates that hedge funds\u00a0poured over 2 bln\u00a0<\/a>into crypto in 2017.
\n– The\u00a0state of cryptocurrency investing<\/a>\u00a0in 2017 sums up all the important trends we could see in crypto this year.
\n– An interesting, and for many also outrageous, thing happened in the Litecoin community when its founding father Charlie\u00a0sold\u00a0all his litecoins<\/a>.
\n– Pamela Morgan summed up all important steps you gotta do when doing\u00a0your\u00a0crypto inheritance plan<\/a>.
\n– The Merkle put together\u00a05 developments for 2018<\/a>\u00a0that will make Monero holders happy.
\n– PIVx devs\u00a0brought attention<\/a>\u00a0to the exaggerated claims of the Verge’s marketing campaign boasting with masking of IP addresses.<\/p>\n

Blockchain:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

– While many of us\u00a0are enthusiastic about the future of blockchain technology, some folks are more sceptical — read their reasons why\u00a0here<\/a>.
\n– So what do you think? Will alternative data structures, like\u00a0Hashgraph<\/a>, kill the blockchain?
\n– Blockchain consortium Hyperledger is already\u00a0loosing some of its members<\/a>.
\n– On the positive note,\u00a0decentralized storage built on top of blockchain<\/a>\u00a0might be a cool thing to have.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
