I know we all have been going through some rough times – someone on Reddit even made a\u00a0GIF<\/a>\u00a0out of it. Nowadays, more than ever, is true that\u00a0it is useless to watch the price tickers. Do not let the\u00a0FUD<\/a>\u00a0that is being spread around to cloud your judgement. Instead, let’s focus\u00a0on the developments that truly matters!<\/p>\n

Bitcoin:<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

– Chances are that next time you travel to the US you will have to declare your crypto holdings, because\u00a0regulations<\/a>\u00a0say so.
\n– A lot has been written about the recent statements of the Indian authorities, as it turns out, the complete ban of crypto does not seem to be on\u00a0the agenda<\/a>.
\n– Similarly, it won’t so bad with crypto in\u00a0South Korea<\/a>\u00a0either.
\n– There was a really cool conference in Sydney just few days ago, the audience had a chance to hear a\u00a0great talk<\/a>\u00a0on the future\u00a0 technological directions in Bitcoin, by Blockstream’s Rusty Russel.
\n– Amongst others, he talked about Bitcoin\u00a0Merklized Abstract\u00a0 Syntax Tree<\/a>\u00a0– one of the next big things in BTC protocol.
\n– Also, the amount of\u00a0Lightning nodes<\/a>\u00a0is rising! Is it the Bitcoin’s\u00a0killer app<\/a>? If you want to play around with it — here is the\u00a0list of Lightning Network wallets<\/a>.

\n– Nice\u00a0piece<\/a>\u00a0on a few particular projects in the Ethereum ecosystem.
\n–\u00a0Summary<\/a>\u00a0of various approaches to Identity standards within Ethereum.
\n–\u00a0 Oracles, are important part of the blockchain world. So how can we\u00a0make them decentralized<\/a>?

Altcoins:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

– Qtum, by many considered one of the most prominent competition to Ethereum, just\u00a0launched the first altcoin full node<\/a>\u00a0into space.
\n– As you may have heard, the\u00a02nd largest crypto hack<\/a>\u00a0in the history occurred on Friday, Jan 26. Japanese authorities\u00a0started to investigate Coincheck<\/a>\u00a0for compliance.
\n– One of the DAA managers, at Iconomi,\u00a0shared his views<\/a>\u00a0on the current market situation.
\n– Vertcoin, has getting increasingly more traction, check out their most recent\u00a0development update<\/a>.
\n– Nice\u00a0discussion<\/a>\u00a0on understanding of the tokens from a16z. This\u00a0piece<\/a>\u00a0on value, velocity and monetary theory is helpful too.
\n– Augur, one of the more prominent projects in the crypto space,\u00a0has published its new\u00a0White Paper<\/a>!
\n– There is also a\u00a0new stable coin<\/a>\u00a0– TrueUSD -on the block!
\n– Many people are interested in mining – Freedomnode made a\u00a0nice guide<\/a>.
\n– VeChain released the first ever\u00a0Disastery Recovery Plan<\/a>! Moreover, they did so in cooperation with PwC.

ICOs:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

– David Drake of LDJ Capital\u00a0spoke on Bitcoinist<\/a>\u00a0about his views on current price downtrend and ICOs
\n– If you plan\u00a0to do an ICO, this\u00a0article<\/a>\u00a0might be useful for you\u00a0as it collects data from ICOs from different countries.
\n– Also, some other experts\u00a0shared their secrets<\/a>\u00a0to successful ICOs.
\n– Facebook\u00a0has decided to ban ICO and cryptocurrency<\/a>\u00a0ads because of deceptive promotional practices. One might just wonder when will they ban politicians’\u00a0 campaign ads.<\/div>\n
Blockchain & Tech:<\/strong><\/u>
\n– US regulators have\u00a0subpoenaed Bitfinex and Tether<\/a>\u00a0as the crypto folks wait to see if Tether truly holds $2,3 billion in reserve.
\n– A lot of research is being done in\u00a0distributed consensus algorithms<\/a>, folks from Matrix revealed a new\u00a0PoW\/PoS hybrid<\/a>.
\n– Bitfury launched a new tool for law enforcement agencies and financial institutions — called\u00a0Crystal<\/a>.
\n– Samsung has dived into\u00a0manufacturing of ASIC chips<\/a>\u00a0for mining.
\n– New ambitious initiative on the horizon, called Tangem, aims to bring crypto to masses by the means of\u00a0smart banknotes<\/a>.
\n– Nice piece on\u00a0evolution of blockchain<\/a>\u00a0platforms.<\/div>\n
